Appointments Went Grrrrreat!

I found out I had gestational diabetes last Friday, March 27th and I had my appointment with an endocrinologist, a diabetic nurse, and dietition this afternoon, along with a 2 hour class on 'carb counting' and how to use my diabetic monitor. It went GREAT! My levels are looking good, I just did my own blood sugar check with my monitor an hour ago and it was under 130, and that's what matters! I had tried to be proactive and really cut down on carbs this past week from what I had researched on the American Diabetes Association website and the dietition today said 'we need to get you some more carbs!' WHAT a relief it was to hear that! I can eat carbs with every meal, I just need to count my 'carb choices', which is just fine with me!
So needless to say, today was a relief to know that we're going to watch my levels with just diet and exercise and see how that goes, the Dr. didn't perscribe me with insulin or medication, so that's what I was hoping to hear.
I'll be at 27 weeks tomorrow, just a week away from the 3rd trimester! I'm so glad that I can now finally monitor and help to control my levels with this temporary situation and that Izzy's going to be ok as long as we keep a close eye on her development etc. Fweeeeew!
